Who is the Norwood PTA?

The Norwood PTA consists of parents, teachers and community members who work…

To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community

To raise the standards of home life,

To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth,

To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth, and

To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.


The Norwood PTA supports the following:

  • supplies all students K-2 with Norwood Folders and all students 3-6 with agendas
  • supplies all weekly readers
  • sponsors all assemblies
  • runs afterschool activities such as Chess Club, Cheer Squad and Afterschool Karate (starting March 30, 2016- look for sign ups)
  • sponsors all Family Events such as π Night and Read Around the World, The Family Dance, The May Car Show to name a few
  • sponsors the Back to school Breakfast, the Ice Cream Social, Teacher Appreciation Week, Janitorial Staff Appreciation Day, Administrative Assistant Appreciation Day, Principal Appreciation and Volunteer Appreciation
  • sponsors Reading Week
  • 6th Grade Programs
  • Classroom and School Needs as they arise
  • Community outreach and support as needed

Why Should you Join?

Why Join PTA

  • It is good for your children!  You are your child’s most important role model. Your involvement in the PTA shows that you value their education and research shows that students with involved parents have higher test scores and fewer disciplinary problems.
  • It is good for you! As a PTA member, you have a voice in how we support the school and you have an audience with school officials.  You will meet like-minded people and make new friends, you an use your skills and hobbies and you will know what is going on!
  • It is good for the school!  With cutbacks in school budgets, the PTA provides a supplement to the school budget

clockDo you have 30 minutes? Register your Stop and Shop Card, shop Amazonsmile and choose Norwood PTA as your charity, become a member of the PTA (you can become a member on the website, email your great idea to a board member, to a committee chair, or share with a PTA member when you see one)!

Do you have an hour a month? Attend a meeting, join a committee, Chair a committee

Do you have an hour or so a week? Volunteer at the school, Chair a committee (not all take that long a week), become a board member

No matter how little or much time you have, we would love to have you in the PTA!
